OUR HANDS ON EACH OTHER
AVB associate Leah DeVun has a show up now at Women and Their Work!
as one of the models (and on behalf of the other bees featured in the beautiful sunset salutation group photo), i'd like to say that participating as a subject was an amazing, spiritually nurturing experience. for the brief time spent posing i felt a real connection to the history and enduring ideas of wimmin's land- sharing experiences and creating memories & futures for/with/by women. it was really special and empowering. thanks for including me (us), leah!!

AVB RE-PERFORMS: Lee does Yves
One gray Sunday morning in April I climbed up my roof to prove that Yves Klein is not the only one who can leap into the void to climb again unscathed.
There is something eminently satisfying to me to expose the truth of the leap: the friends waiting to catch. And let me tell you, falling face-first from your own roof top on your own tree lined street with your own perplexed neighbors looking on is perhaps the best thing you could do for yourself in Two Thousand and Ten.

National RePerformance Month!
We here at the AVB have been hard at work channeling the spirits of our favorite performers, and I think the results are going to be spectacular. I have unwittingly convinced at least one person that it is National RePerformance Month, and although this thing hasn't swept the country yet, I think that proves it's got the potential to be big, real big.
Check back here for more sneak peaks, and see the whole 2010 RePerformance Reel at Salvage Vanguard Gallery for the duration of Fusebox April 21-May 1 2010.
Here are some exclusive "making of" pics. Can you guess what pieces we're about to reperform?

Celestial Navigations
Celestial Navigations: The Short Films Of Al Jarnow Trailer from numerogroup on Vimeo.
Finally, the psychedelic, terrifying, and inspiring animations you remember munching your cereal to in front of Saturday morning Sesame Street are compiled for your viewing pleasure. I can't wait to get my hands on Celestial Navigations: The Short Films of Al Jarnow that includes ephemera and a documentary on the man behind the magic you remember so fondly.
